Other interior design trends add a full pallet of nature themed hues for 2020. Viewed together, they reflect the changing sky from dusk to dawn enhanced by the beauty of the arctic lights.

Blue is also a patriotic color for many countries. It is a color we will see a lot of in the United States during this year of presidential election. The Pantone Color Institute, renowned forecaster of global color trends, has selected Classic Blue as the dominant hue for the upcoming year. Similarly, paint giant Sherwin Williams has created Naval SW 6244, a variation of traditional navy blue, as their 2020 color of the year.

Expect to see the use of this color expanded to more rooms in 2020. As one of the patriotic colors, red will remain a popular choice during the 2020 election season in the USA. You can use it as an accent color or as the dominant color in the room.

The serene beauty of nature is reflected in today's color pallet. A greater awareness of the environment and environmental concerns has increased the popularity of all things green, including paint color. The green shades that will dominate 2020 have a little more yellow in them than in past years. This year's greens trend more toward light and dark olive tones than the gray-green sages of the previous decade.

Use Light Pink as an Alternative to White or Beige

Pink is not just for little girls and nurseries anymore. Light pink will be very popular in 2020. In keeping with our Aurora Borealis theme, Benjamin Moore named their color of the year First Light 2102-70. It's a refreshing and airy hue of pink. This pink is truly a neutral and can be used in living rooms, bedrooms and even kitchens. It compliments any space and flows well with the blues, greens, reds, golds, and grays of this year's color schemes.

Warm Tones in Gold, Yellow and Orange Make a Comeback!

After a decade dominated by cool grays, warm tones are back in style. Watch as subtle golds and yellows tones take over nurseries, workspaces, bedrooms, and living rooms. Colors with names like Benjamin Moore's Golden Straw, Mango (an energetic light orange) and Champagne, which is a light yellowy beige, are sweeping the interior design scene. These colors look fresh and new. They impart an optimistic and happy feeling to the inhabitants of rooms decorated in these colors. Gray colors have been trending for quite some time now, and they will continue to be popular in 2020. Gray goes with anything and can be used in any room. All of the major paint companies have included a gray in their line-up for 2020, with Behr's Organic Charcoal and Sherwin Williams Cyberspace the darkest of these hues. Lighter grays like Sherwin-Williams Alpaca will also be popular into the new decade.
